SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy
Version 1.0 | Last Updated: April 13, 2026
Effective Date: May 18, 2026

1. Who Sends These Messages
SMS messages are sent by EquineOps (the messaging platform) on behalf of independent service providers — farriers, equine dentists, and similar equine professionals — who use EquineOps software to manage their businesses. Each message originates from the service provider's account within EquineOps.
Recipients of these messages are clients of those service providers (barn owners, horse owners, and their representatives). Recipients are not required to be EquineOps account holders.
2. Message Program Description
EquineOps sends the following types of messages on behalf of service providers:
Appointment reminders — reminders for upcoming scheduled appointments
Scheduling confirmations and changes — confirmation of a booked appointment or notification of a schedule change
Invoice and payment notifications — notification that an invoice has been issued or that a payment is due or received
No marketing, promotional, or unsolicited messages are sent through this program.
3. How Consent Is Collected
Consent is obtained directly from each individual recipient through the following steps:
Consent request text. The service provider initiates the process by entering the client's mobile number into EquineOps. EquineOps sends a single one-time consent request text message to that number. This message identifies EquineOps and the specific service provider, states the purpose of future messages, and includes a link to a secure, per-recipient consent page hosted at
equineops.com/sms-consent/<token>.Web opt-in. The recipient opens the secure consent page, where they are shown the full program disclosure — including message types, frequency, applicable costs, and opt-out instructions — along with a link to this policy. The recipient must explicitly tap "I agree to receive SMS" to opt in. This action is performed by the recipient personally; the service provider cannot opt in on a recipient's behalf.
Consent record. Upon opt-in, EquineOps records the timestamp, IP address, and device/user-agent string as proof of consent.
Scope of consent. Consent is per service relationship. It covers appointment reminders, scheduling confirmations and changes, and invoice/payment notifications from that service provider via EquineOps. No messages of any kind are sent before consent is given on the secure web page.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies and is not fixed. It depends on the recipient's appointment schedule and invoice activity with their service provider. Recipients will only receive messages directly tied to their service interactions.
5. Costs
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. EquineOps does not charge recipients for SMS messages.
6. How to Opt Out or Get Help
To stop all messages: Reply STOP to any message. EquineOps and participating carriers will honor the STOP request immediately. No further messages will be sent.
To resume messages after opting out: A new consent request must be initiated by the service provider. You may also need to text START to re-enable messages from the sending number before a new consent request can be delivered.
For help: Reply HELP to any message, or contact EquineOps support at support@equineops.com.
7. Data Handling
Phone numbers and consent records collected through this program are used solely to deliver the service messages described above. They are not sold, shared with third parties for marketing purposes, or used for any purpose unrelated to service communications.
For full details on how EquineOps handles personal data, see the EquineOps Privacy Policy.
